Waitomo Glow Worm Tour

A chance to see New Zealand’s unique glow worm whilst you drift on a boat through the Glow Worm Grotto gazing up at the tens of thousands of tiny lights.

Waitomo caves are set in a karst limestone region in New Zealand’s ‘King Country’, historically the site of the long and bloody New Zealand wars of the 1860’s. Now it’s peaceful rural farmland with rolling hills and home to what is probably the best place to see kiwis in New Zealand, Otorohanga.

You will also get the chance to explore the Ruakuri walk, probably the best short walk in New Zealand, with subterranean streams and native rain forest all in a collapsed cave system.

  • Pick up from the port area
  • Transport in a small air-conditioned mini bus with a full commentary from your professional guide
  • Hear about New Zealand’s unique ecology created by 80 million years of isolation and how the Waitomo caves were formed.
