Tick off two great destinations in one great tour. Explore the immensely popular Hobbiton Movie Set, then visit the cultural and geothermal hub of Rotorua (see geysers, mud pools and Maori culture).
This is the ULTIMATE tour for anyone cruising to Tauranga. Do not miss the 2 best destinations the region has to offer!

First stop is a visit to the enchanting world of JRR Tolkein's imagination - on a trip to the Hobbiton Movie Set and farm. Intricately recreated after being used as a film set for both the Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, and set deep in New Zealand farming countryside, this location is on many visitors bucket lists!

Hobbiton Highlights:

  • See all 44 Hobbit holes set across 12 acres of lush pasture and manicured "Middle Earth" gardens. You can also visit inside a real Hobbit house.
  • Learn inside tips from your specialist guide about how the movie was made and get wrapped up in the fascinating stories they tell.
  • Make a visit to Bag End, the Party Tree, Gandalf's Cutting, The Mill House and more. For you movie buffs there are recognisable landmarks at every turn!

  • We end the tour with a complimentary ale, cider or ginger beer in the Green Dragon Inn where you can sit by the fire, admire the expert craftsmanship and imagine life as a hobbit, you may not want to leave!
In the afternoon we explore the cultural and geothermal hub of Rotorua just over an hours drive from Hobbiton, where you will experience an intoxicating mix of New Zealand's power and cultural beauty at Whakarewarewa - the Living Maori Village.

Whakarewarewa Highlights:

  • Experience an authentic Living Māori Village where people still live.
  • Learn what it is like to live in this challenging geothermal environment.
  • See how food is cooked just as it has been for the last 800 years.
  • Visit the bathing pools with an endless supply of boiling and therapeutic waters.
  • Learn about some of the the Māori culture and its traditions.
  • View the wonders of Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, including the world famous Pohutu Geyser, boiling mud-pools and extensive steam vents.
  • Watch a cultural performance with traditional song and dance, including the fearsome Haka ( this may not be possible on some days due to the timing ).
Leaving the village, ( time permitting ) we head into Rotorua city, through the famous Government Gardens. Here, the impressive Elizabethan style Bath House was the first health spa in New Zealand. The gardens are also the location of the Blue Baths, Rachel's Spring and the Polynesian Spa.

Departing Rotorua for the port, our route takes us past beautiful Lake Rotoiti, through forests, farmland and finally to the coast of the Bay of Plenty.
After an unforgettable day we guarantee to have you back at the port for your ship's departure as you wave farewell to our slice of paradise.

Please note that on some days we will visit the Te Puia geothermal site, this will depend on avaiability and tour times.

After a great day out we will guarantee you are back at the port in plenty of time to board your ship, taking with you lots of wonderful memories from your tour with us into New Zealand's heartland!
Please read the revised terms and conditions when making your booking as due to policy changes at Hobbiton, refunds on the Hobbiton ticket are not refundable should the ship fail to make port without giving at least 24 hours notice.  Also should the ships arrival or departure times change on the day, meaning the Hobbiton guided tour can not be taken at the booked time, then refunds of the Hobbiton tour charge will not be given.
