Te Puia Geysers & Wai-O-Tapu tour
Rotorua geysers, mud pools, Maori culture and plenty of sights!
Our most popular tour visits Te Puia - Rotorua's premiere cultural and geothermal destination and home to the world-famous Pohutu Geyser. See geothermal features, a Maori concert, kiwi birds, a kiwifruit orchard and much more!
Tour outline:
Diverse landscapes and cultural delights await you on this popular combination tour including Rotorua city highlights.
Your fully guided small group trip takes in Rotorua's cultural and geothermal hub of Te Puia, as well as visiting the stunning thermal wonderland of Wai-O-Tapu. This is the ultimate geothermal experience!
Highlights of Te Puia:
-
See geysers explode high into the air, viscous mudpools bubble away and boiling hotpools simmer endlessly. You will only get those iconic geyser photos at Te Puia where you are up close and personal with many of the geothermal features.
-
Experience an awe-inspiring cultural performance from a local Maori group. The 45 minute concert includes a powhiri (welcome) onto the Marae (meeting house), as well as traditional songs and dances. You will see the famous Haka (war dance) - guaranteed to send a shiver down your spine!
- Spot the elusive kiwi in the nocturnal enclosure. These shy birds are our national icon and are now endangered.
-
Watch craftsmen and women learn their trade in the newly refurbished carving and weaving schools. The apprentices here are keeping their customs alive.
Wai-O-Tapu Highlights:
-
Marvel at the diverse landscapes sculpted out of thousands of years of volcanic activity. See the famous Champagne Pool, Devil's Cave, Artist's Palette, Sulphur Cave and many more geothermal features
-
'New Zealand's most colourful geothermal attraction' is also home to New Zealand's largest bubbling mud pool.
On top of all this:
-
- Enjoy famous sights of Rotorua city - including Government Gardens, the Bath House, Rachel Spring and the stunning lakefront.
-
- Delight in the lush Bay of Plenty countryside - passing forests, lakes, orchards, beaches and more. We stop at a kiwifruit orchard so you can see first-hand how these furry icons are grown.
Please note that Waiotapu is a cashless destination.
